Item 8.01 Other Events.
On July 22, 2010, MGM Resorts International, a Delaware corporation (“Company”), issued a
statement, attached as Exhibit 99 to this Form 8-K, announcing the death of one of the members of
its Board of Directors, Governor Kenny Guinn. Governor Guinn served on the Board of Directors of the
Company since 2007, served as Chairman of our Nominating/Corporate Governance Committee and was a
member of our Audit Committee, Compensation Committee and Executive Committee.
