Pursuant to the terms and for the purposes of article 17 of the Portuguese Securities Code, and following a communication received from Morgan Stanley, Portugal Telecom, SGPS, S.A. (PT) hereby informs that, as a result of a receipt of 10,730,000 PT ordinary shares which took place on 24 October 2007, over the counter, Morgan Stanley now holds 44,210,452 ordinary shares representing 3.92% of the share capital and 4.31% of the voting rights in PT.
Such qualified holding is held by Morgan Stanley through the following entities: Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated, Morgan Stanley Capital Services Inc., Morgan Stanley Capital (Luxembourg) S.A., Morgan Stanley, S.V., S.A. and Morgan Stanley & Co International plc.
