This Report of Foreign Private Issuer on Form 6-K is deemed filed for all purposes under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended, including by reference in the Registration Statement on Form F-3 (Registration No. 33-99550) and the Registration Statement on Form F-3 (Registration No. 333-9180).


On June 27, 2009, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy (the “MKE”) announced that, effective as of the same date, it will adjust the electricity rates that Korea Power Electric Corporation (“KEPCO”) charges to the end-users by increasing the average electricity rates for the commercial sector, the industrial sector and the educational sector by 2.3%, 6.5% and 6.9%, respectively. The average electricity rates for street lighting and nighttime power usage will also increase by 6.9% and 8.0%, respectively. There will be no change for the electricity rates applicable to the residential and agricultural sectors. As a result of such adjustments, the overall average electricity rate KEPCO charges to its customers is expected to increase by 3.9%.
