AMÉRICA MÓVIL INCREASES ITS INTEREST IN CTE

MEXICO CITY (MEXICO), December 7, 2004. América Móvil, S.A. de C.V. (América Móvil) [BMV: AMX] [NYSE: AMX] [NASDAQ: AMOV] [LATIBEX: XAMXL], announced today that it has acquired from the Government of El Salvador a 41.54% ownership interest in Compañía de Telecomunicaciones de El Salvador (CTE) for a purchase price of US$294.85 million. With this transaction, América Móvil’s interest in the company has increased to 94.4%. CTE provides fixed, mobile and other telecommunications services in El Salvador.
