On September 27, 2007, James S. Brian, 60, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer
for CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (the Company) announced his intention to retire from the Company on
November 30, 2007. Mr. Brian has been with the Company and its predecessors for over 30 years and
has served in a number of executive capacities during his tenure. The Company announced that Mr.
Walter L. Fitzgerald, 50, who has served as Vice President and Controller of the Company for the
last six years, will assume the duties of the Companys chief accounting officer effective December
1, 2007.
