Advocating for changes in civil commitment laws in Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS–ST. PAUL, MN, August 19, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The traveling exhibit of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) opened in downtown St. Paul to an excited crowd. This exhibit was held at the Nova Event Hall on St Peter St. a newly renovated event space set up for public tours.
The CCHR exhibit consists of 14 graphic panels and 13 short documentaries that reveal the history and current abuses in the mental health field. The title of the exhibit is "Psychiatry an Industry of Death" that reflects the nature of the exhibit and proves the point of the title.
An Opening Ribbon-Cutting event was held Monday with guest speakers that revealed the abuses in mental hospitals that occur with civil commitments. Patients are held against their will, drugged without informed consent, and subjected to other violations of their human rights. The main speaker, Dr. Patrice Nerad called for the formation of a Coalition that would work to change the civil commitment laws in Minnesota so the patients are protected from harm in the name of help. CCHR MN chapter will be helping Dr. Nerad set up the coalition and guiding its purpose.
CCHR is an international watchdog over the psychiatric industry since 1969. It has worked internationally to change many legislative bills that curtail psychiatric advances into educational systems and into society. CCHR's most recent documentary lays out the cause of violence in our society, particularly with the mass shootings in schools and public events, proving the psychiatric drugs as the cause.
