More than 70 technical resources connect project requirements, field testing and final documentation to verifiable ESD flooring performance.
DALLAS, Texas — September 28, 2026 — Craftsman Concrete Floors, a commercial and industrial flooring contractor providing national service coverage, has published its 2026-2027 technical guide to electrostatic discharge (ESD) flooring installation, testing and closeout.
Developed from Craftsman’s installation, testing and closeout practices, the guide contains more than 70 original technical resources. Topics include test-method selection, acceptance criteria, testing responsibilities, cleaning before testing, humidity and conditioning, sampling locations, field reporting and the records delivered at handover.
The publication makes Craftsman’s established technical approach publicly accessible by showing how project requirements, installation procedures, test results and closeout records work together to establish what was installed, how it was evaluated and whether the reported results met the applicable criteria.
That process begins before installation. The flooring system, applicable tests, acceptance criteria, assigned responsibilities and required records need to be established while the work is being specified and priced. A report produced at the end of a project cannot resolve an earlier omission concerning what should have been tested or how the results should have been evaluated.
Craftsman performs flooring installation through directly employed W-2 crews. Its manufacturer-independent delivery model allows system selection to follow project requirements. Surface preparation, grounding details, material application and required inspections follow the selected system and governing project documents. Work in operating facilities can be phased around access, production schedules, curing requirements and the conditions for returning completed areas to service.
Recent work completed through this delivery model includes 34,000- and 67,000-square-foot ESD flooring installations in Tier 1 electronics manufacturing and QA facilities. Both projects were phased around operating facilities and included testing and closeout documentation.
The guide distinguishes among ESD measurements that are sometimes treated as interchangeable. Floor resistance, resistance through a person wearing footwear on a floor and walking body voltage answer different performance questions. A test method establishes how a measurement is taken; the project specification and acceptance criteria establish which measurements are required and how the results are evaluated.
Testing services are defined by the executed project scope. When assigned to Craftsman, floor-resistance testing is performed under ANSI/ESD STM7.1-2020. Person-footwear-floor system resistance is measured under ANSI/ESD STM97.1-2025, while walking body voltage is measured under ANSI/ESD STM97.2-2016.
The guide also addresses the role of footwear and flooring performance within an ANSI/ESD S20.20-2021 ESD control program and the compliance-verification practices described by ESD TR53-01-22.
Every test performed directly by Craftsman produces a written digital report. Reporting can connect readings to mapped floor locations and record test conditions, photographs, acceptance criteria and pass/fail status. This allows the receiving team to understand what was measured, where it was measured and how each result was evaluated.
Closeout brings the test results together with the other records assigned to the project. These can include product information, installation records, warranty documents, maintenance instructions and records of corrective work or retesting. Craftsman normally delivers individually named PDF files in an organized digital project folder.
The objective is not simply to provide a floor that appears complete. It is to give the owner a documented record connecting the project requirements to the installed system, the testing performed and the results delivered at handover.
Craftsman also tests existing floors, including systems installed by other contractors. These services provide facilities with current measurements and supporting records for periodic verification, performance review and troubleshooting.
