The Lowcountry countertop fabricator has updated its quoting process to reflect recent quartz material price changes and provide current project-level comparisons across countertop materials.
CHARLESTON, S.C., Sept. 29, 2026 — Perfect Stones Countertops has updated its countertop quoting process for Charleston-area projects following recent changes in quartz material pricing. The company is now using current supplier pricing when preparing quartz estimates and expanding material-by-material cost comparisons for customers evaluating quartz, granite, and quartzite for upcoming projects.
The pricing change comes after a federal safeguard measure on certain imported quartz surface products took effect Aug. 15. Announced July 31, the four-year measure uses a tariff-rate quota and includes country-specific exclusions, meaning it does not apply uniformly to every quartz product entering the United States.
The company said the quoting update was prompted by a noticeable shift in quartz material pricing since the safeguard measure took effect. “Since the safeguard took effect on August 15, we have seen quartz prices increase by an average of about 25 percent,” Pirogov said. “That does not mean every quartz color or every countertop project is automatically 25 percent more expensive. The impact varies by material, manufacturer, and project specifications, which is why we updated the way we prepare and compare quotes.”
Perfect Stones says the distinction between material pricing and total project pricing is important. A 25% increase in quartz material pricing does not translate directly into a 25% increase in the total cost of every countertop installation.
Material is only one component of a custom countertop quote. Total square footage, the number of slabs required, slab layout, sink and cooktop cutouts, edge details, backsplash work, fabrication complexity, and installation conditions can also affect the final project price. “Material pricing is only one part of a finished countertop,” Pirogov said. “If a slab costs more, that affects the quote, but fabrication and installation do not automatically increase by the same percentage. Our updated quoting process separates those components so the effect of a material price change is reflected more accurately at the project level.”

As part of the updated quoting process, Perfect Stones is also providing side-by-side project pricing for quartz, granite, and quartzite when customers are considering multiple materials. Granite and quartzite are natural stones and fall outside the scope of the quartz-specific safeguard measure, although their prices can still vary based on slab selection, sourcing, availability, and other market conditions.
“An estimate from several months ago may no longer reflect the current cost of that exact quartz,” Pirogov said. “Our updated quoting approach reflects current material costs and shows how different countertop options affect the complete installed project price.”
