Rancho Cucamonga residents are increasingly asking whether roads and infrastructure are keeping pace with the city's continued growth and development.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA - As Rancho Cucamonga continues to grow, many residents are raising concerns about traffic congestion and whether infrastructure improvements are keeping pace with development throughout the city.

One intersection frequently mentioned by residents is Foothill Boulevard and Milliken Avenue, where traffic congestion during peak commute hours has become a familiar sight for many drivers.

According to Rancho Cucamonga City Council candidate David VanGorden, the discussion is not about opposing growth, but ensuring that growth is planned alongside the infrastructure needed to support it.

"Residents understand that cities evolve and grow," said VanGorden. "The question many people are asking is whether our roads, public safety resources, and infrastructure are keeping pace with that growth. These are reasonable questions that deserve thoughtful discussion."

As new residential and commercial projects continue to move forward throughout Rancho Cucamonga, concerns about traffic circulation, commute times, and the long-term capacity of local infrastructure have become increasingly common topics among residents.

VanGorden says the conversation should focus on planning ahead rather than reacting after problems become more difficult and expensive to address.

"Growth without infrastructure is not progress," VanGorden said. "If we want to maintain the quality of life that attracted many families to Rancho Cucamonga, we need to ensure that roads, services, and long-term planning remain part of every growth discussion."

Residents have expressed concerns about congestion along several major corridors, including Foothill Boulevard, where traffic volumes can increase significantly during morning and evening commute periods.

VanGorden believes that infrastructure planning should remain a central part of conversations regarding future development and community growth.

"Good planning is about looking ahead," he said. "Residents want confidence that decisions being made today will continue to support the needs of our community years into the future."

VanGorden, a retired law enforcement professional with more than 30 years of public safety experience, says listening to residents has helped shape many of the issues he continues to discuss throughout the campaign.

David VanGorden is a Rancho Cucamonga City Council candidate for District 2. He is running against incumbent Kristine Scott and candidate DeJonae Shaw in the November 2026 election. His campaign focuses on infrastructure, public safety, responsible growth, government accessibility, and maintaining Rancho Cucamonga's quality of life.
