DENVER, CO / ACCESS Newswire / July 25, 2025 / In a world of chaos, conflict, turf wars, and tariffs, eBodyGuard®️has found a way to work with local communities to prioritize public and individual safety for everyone. With support from the Department of Commerce, the company is focusing on safety and building a better future for residents, both at home and abroad.
Recovering From Disaster
Most major cities and many communities around the world have not yet returned to the level of societal and economic vibrancy experienced before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. With the rise of COVID-19 came an increase in crime and a decline in overall participation in many downtown communities. The resulting fallout includes greater vacancies, fewer people willing to go downtown and participate in historically well-attended events, fewer riders of public transportation, and many other harmful byproducts of feeling unsafe.
By utilizing the best technology and innovation available and engaging with community stakeholders, including first responders, law enforcement, court systems, and nonprofit community organizations, The Smart, Safe Cities: My eBodyGuard Program™️ aims to restore economic and societal vibrancy to communities worldwide over the next 10 years.
Creating Individual Safety to Enrich Community
The team at eBodyGuard believes that individual safety is a primary right of every human being. The Smart, Safe Cities campaign positions this premise as a core part of its approach. While eBodyGuard technology is innovative, it cannot solve the problem on its own. The team believes in the inherent good of people and that governments of countries want to protect and serve their communities. This company has the program and technology to do this in a manner that supports the social contract.
For example, through its participation in the program, the City of Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais, Brazil, has become a Smart, Safe City that supports its citizens. The government has taken additional steps to amplify this further by supporting its citizens through the My eBodyGuard Program. Leading Brazil and Minas Gerais, they will be the pioneers, along with the Tribunal Courts of Minas Gerais, providing a path for justice and peace to more than 23,000 individuals. As Judge Evangelina Castilho Duarte of the 14th Civil Chamber of the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJMG) describes, "The program will make it safer for victims and more effective for law enforcement."
The Origins of Smart, Safe Cities
The My eBodyGuard Program was then pitched to the Federal Headquarters team, and Headquarters in the Digital Office of the Western Hemisphere picked it up, seeing the vision and the need. With the support of the Brazilian Department of Commerce, Melissa took the advice of the International Trade Administration, and she was mentored by them. She listened to them and attended their workshops and schools, learning a new skill: the trade of American exports.
Building a Better Tomorrow
The pandemic has had a profound impact on societies worldwide and continues to have long-lasting effects. However, by going to such lengths to make individual cities happier, healthier, and more secure for their residents moving forward, eBodyGuard and the Smart, Safe Cities team have also helped generate greater exports for the U.S. While these numbers are still not up to their pre-pandemic highs, the work being done to make residents and communities feel safer has generated a net positive impact across the board.
