Currently, Maj. Beehler serves as the deputy operations officer and director of logistics for the Marine Corps Training Mission in the United Arab Emirates. This assignment is a significant interagency effort involving the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Defense, supporting the defense partnership between the United States and the United Arab Emirates, and assists official U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi engagements such as the 2025 Abu Dhabi International Defense Exhibition & Conference and the Dubai Airshow.

Combat Deployments and Strategic Planning

Throughout his career, Maj. Beehler has led logistics, transportation, and supply chain operations while supporting strategic and war planning initiatives. His responsibilities have included leading operational planning teams, managing knowledge and information systems, and coordinating with joint, interagency and multinational partners.

From 2008 to 2012, he served with Combat Logistics Battalion 4, completing two combat deployments to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. During a 2009 deployment to Iraq, he commanded a platoon responsible for approximately 43 combat logistics patrols across Anbar Province, with all personnel under his command completing the mission safely. He identifies this undertaking as one of the defining moments of his service.

Reflecting on leadership and decision-making, Maj. Beehler states, "Leadership is about standing firm on sound wisdom and judgement, also reason and flexibility, and extending those principles to any rank or member of your team. If one of your marines genuinely provides an evidence-based point, logically sound, and fundamentally better, then it's time to say, ‘All right, this round goes to you, so let's implement this into the process and move forward.' It builds a stronger team and trust that moves organizations beyond the speed of war."

Global Assignments and Operational Impact

Between 2012 and 2021, Major Beehler held assignments at Blount Island Command in Florida, the 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Naval Support Activity Bahrain and the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton. His service included deployments supporting Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve, during which he led multinational teams that built task force retrograde contingency options in Syria, and U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq.

He also completed a second tour with the 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade (redesignated as Task Force 51/5) and served as one of Admiral Samuel J. Paparo Jr.'s planners at U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain. From 2021 to 2024, he served as the Korean Theater Operations Officer for III Marine Expeditionary Force G-4 in Okinawa, Japan. In this role, he supported 15 deployments supporting nearly 15,000 service members to the Republic of Korea, including the return of Maritime Prepositioning Program vessels after a five-year absence.

Maj. Beehler credits his professional development from being able to work for and observe outstanding general and flag officers of the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy such as (present rank): Lieutenant General Carl E. Mundy III (retired), Lieutenant General Joseph R. Clearfield, Major General Farrell J. Sullivan, Major General Matthew G. Trollinger, Brigadier General Nick I. Brown, Admiral Samuel J. Paparo Jr., Admiral Charles B. Cooper and Vice Admiral Curt A. Renshaw.

Professional Growth and Emerging Technology

Maj. Beehler credits the Marine Corps training pipeline for establishing professional standards early in his career. "The Marine Corps has a rigorous and effective process for weeding out the officers at The Basic School," he explains. "With each new part of the Marine Corps you enter, and the longer you stay, you refine your skills."

Maj. Beehler has also emphasized the role of emerging technology in modern military operations. Discussing his interest in artificial intelligence, he says, "I've been leveraging A.I. systems to analyze large volumes of documents and produce executive summaries for ambassador and general officer leadership. These systems are remarkable as they can create quality outputs in minutes that would take battalion and regimental level staff days to produce. Telling and also chilling when one thinks of the current and future lethal effects A.I. and machine learning systems have on warfare, particularly as time goes by."

Education, Honors, Publications and Ongoing Service

A 2005 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, Maj. Beehler earned a Bachelor of Arts in international studies along with minors in history and English before completing a Master of Science in international and European politics at the University of Edinburgh in 2006. He was also commissioned as a Marine Officer in November 2007.

Maj. Beehler has contributed entries to the following publications: Spencer C. Tucker's three-volume "Naval Warfare: An International Encyclopedia,"which covers 2500 years of history. Major General David T. Zabecki's (PhD, U.S. Army (Retired)) four-volume editorial: "Germany at War: 400 years of Military History," which covers Germany as a military power from the start of the Thirty Years' War in 1618 to the present day.

His military personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals. Maj. Beehler attributes his success to maintaining high professional standards and a commitment to continuous improvement.
