When it comes to home buying, there are a few key things first-time buyers should remember. It’s important to understand that buying a home is not only an emotional and financial decision but will require time and research – from finding the perfect location, selecting the right mortgage loan option, and even choosing the best real estate agent.

Stephen explained: “Before committing to a purchase, take some time to assess your finances, including credit score and debt-to-income ratio. Knowing this information ahead of time can help you determine how much house you can afford before making an offer. Loans may be available for those with lower incomes or bad credit scores. Understanding these options is key to getting the most out of your budget.”

In addition, it is crucial to research the local market and get an idea of what homes are selling in the area. This will help people make informed decisions when deciding how much money they are willing to offer and negotiating closing costs.

Finally, finding a qualified real estate agent with experience can be beneficial in helping guide buyers through the process. Agents can provide insight into local markets, negotiate deals on their behalf, and offer advice on loan options available to first-time homebuyers. Working with an experienced realtor can help save time and money while navigating the complexities of buying a new home.

By keeping these tips in mind, first-time buyers should have no problem finding their dream home and making informed decisions that meet their budget and lifestyle needs.

 About Stephen Andrus

Stephen is originally from Manhattan Kansas, when he graduated high school he got a scholarship to Michigan State University for wrestling. Four years later after he graduated, he moved to Colorado Springs to try and make the Olympics in 2012 for Greco-Roman Wrestling. He fell short of losing in the finals match and then started working. After a few years of trying out different jobs (managing a Sherwin-Williams and working as an apprentice electrician) he found his way to insurance.

After working in auto and home insurance at Progressive he wanted to learn more about the health insurance industry and moved over to United Healthcare. It wasn’t until he wanted to buy a house of his own that he ever considered working in the mortgage industry. After getting denied and not really told why by a few banks he decided to start studying for a loan officer test to better understand how to achieve homeownership. After passing his LO test in December of ’21 and working in this industry for a year he’s proud to say that his fiancé and him just closed on their first home on Friday, December 9th. His goal is to help as many families as possible achieve their goals of homeownership.
