Hurricane Electric Expands Network to TierPoint’s Little Rock Data Center

First Point of Presence in Arkansas will provide enterprises throughout central Arkansas with additional high-speed connectivity options

Fremont, CA-based Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone announced today that it has deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) in TierPoint’s Little Rock data center. The new PoP is located at 15707 Chenal Parkway in Little Rock, AK.

Strategically located in the state’s capital and largest city, TierPoint’s Little Rock data center is carrier neutral and offers 30,000 ft2 of data center space with guaranteed 100% uptime. Little Rock is part of the TierPoint network and connects businesses to tens of millions of people in Dallas, Memphis, St. Louis, and Nashville. Little Rock is home to enterprises in transportation logistics, aerospace and aviation, automotive, healthcare, and smart grid technologies, and has a robust start-up environment.

The economic landscape in Arkansas continues to expand, and according to a recent report from the 2021-2022 HireAHelper, Arkansas was the number one state people moved into during 2021, with 44% more people moving into the state than moving out. The state is also home to two start-up accelerators, and Little Rock boasts two fintech accelerators. To further fuel the state’s growth, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission partnered with the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism in 2021 on a new talent recruitment campaign.

This PoP is Hurricane Electric’s first location in Arkansas and will provide enterprises in the west south-central states with improved fault tolerance, load balancing, and congestion management in the delivery of next-generation IP connectivity services.

Customers of TierPoint in and around Little Rock now have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, customers at the facility are able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with more than 10,000 different networks via more than 280 major exchange points and thousands of customers and private peering ports.

“Hurricane Electric is excited to expand our global network and services in the southern region, enabling enterprises and ISPs to improve their business agility,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “This network expansion builds on Hurricane Electric’s commitment to ensure that we provide connectivity to as many places as possible across the globe.”
