UKG, a leading provider of HR, payroll, workforce management, and culture solutions for all people, today announced the company has earned a 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). This is the third consecutive year that UKG achieved a perfect score on the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report that measures corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.
The results of the 2023-2024 CEI demonstrate how U.S.-based companies are promoting LGBTQ+ friendly workplace practices in the U.S. and abroad. This year, the CEI included 1,384 participants, with a record-breaking 1,340 businesses having non-discrimination protections specific to gender identity, up from just 17 in 2002. These non-discrimination protections cover 21 million employees around the globe.
“By participating in important indexes, like this one trailblazed by the HRC, and listening intently to U Krewers around the world, we continue to learn how to best support the different needs of our people so each person feels uniquely valued and confident to bring ideas to the table driven by their unique life experiences. That’s where the magic happens,” said Brian K. Reaves, the chief of belonging, equity, and impact officer at UKG. “Beyond the work that we do internally, I am especially excited that we can help other organizations on their belonging journeys with the UKG Great Place To Work Hub and other emerging HCM technologies built for all.”
Recently, UKG announced it will extend its reimbursement benefits for medical costs for gender-affirming care — including gender transition surgery — to all countries where it has employees. Also in 2024, UKG is extending IVF coverage for all employees worldwide beyond the U.S. and India, is increasing fully paid family leave, including for qualified domestic partners, to six weeks, has increased baby bonding time for birth and non-birth parents to eight weeks, and offers 12 weeks of paid leave following birth by surrogacy.
Additionally, as part of its commitment to help all employees thrive, UKG has several active employee resource groups (ERGs) to further support its people and communities at large, including its PRIDE ERG for LGBTQIA+ employees and allies. Other ERGs at UKG include:
- ADAPT (Accessibility and Disability Allies Partner Together) to raise awareness and support for people with disabilities;
- AsPIRE (Asian & Pacific Islanders Raising Equity) for Asian and Pacific Islander employees and allies;
- BUILD (Black U Krewers in Leadership and Development) for employees from the African diaspora and allies;
- CARES (Cancer Awareness Resource Education and Support) for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and allies;
- FIRE (Female Inclusion, Resilience, and Excellence) Up for women and allies at all levels of the company;
- UKG VETS for active service members, veterans, and allies;
- UNIDOS (United) for Latin*/Hispanic employees and allies; and
- NEST (Nurture, Empower, Support, and Thrive) that connects and supports parents and caregivers at UKG to help them thrive at home, at work, and in life.
Furthermore, UKG recently announced its participation in The Great Transformation, a groundbreaking three-year research project led by Great Place To Work to crack the code on leveraging ERGs and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) initiatives to solve business challenges and unlock the full potential of all employees. CEOs, Chief Human Resource Officers, and Chief Diversity Officers from 11 large, multi-national organizations have committed to participating in targeted, data-backed DEI&B projects designed to improve organizational productivity, agility, resilience, and innovation. This first-of-its-kind cohort collectively represents more than 1.4 million global employees across a broad range of industries, including technology, finance, transportation, hospitality, professional services, semiconductors, and manufacturing.
The HRC CEI recognition is the latest in a string of recent workplace-culture accolades for UKG, including Forbes and Newsweek each naming the company to the America’s Best Employers for Diversity and America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity lists, respectively. Separately, UKG was named by Newsweek to its America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women list and recently secured a #3 ranking globally among large companies on Foundry’s Computerworld 2024 Best Places to Work in IT list, from which it was featured in a story titled, “At UKG, diversity is a linchpin of better IT and business outcomes.”
