AHF Backs Congressional Push to Protect HIV/AIDS Funding

Supports U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters’ (D-CA) and bipartisan group of 60 members of Congress’ plea not to strip $767M from domestic HIV/AIDS programs in the FY 2024 budget

“We support Congresswoman Maxine Waters' fight to preserve federal AIDS funding. It would be penny wise and pound foolish to undo the amazing progress that has been made in combatting HIV in America,” said Michael Weinstein, AHF president and cofounder. “Republicans should remember that it was former President Trump who inaugurated the Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. program. With 500,000 people living with HIV still not in regular treatment, it would be a tragic mistake to take our foot off the gas now.”
