Black Hat USA 2024 Closes on Record-Breaking Event in Las Vegas

Event showcased the latest cybersecurity findings, Keynotes covering global democracy and the future of privacy, a full day of Summits, and more

Black Hat, the producer of the cybersecurity industry’s most established and in-depth security events, today announced the successful completion of the in-person component of Black Hat USA 2024. The event welcomed more than 21,700 unique attendees, with more than 20,000 joining in-person at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, while more than 1,700 registered for On-Demand Access to the event.

Security professionals from 117 countries registered to attend the event and experience firsthand the latest in research, development, and trends in cybersecurity through more than 100 Briefings covering everything from artificial intelligence (AI), enterprise security, reverse engineering, and more. The program also included four days of deeply technical hands-on Trainings, over 120 Sponsored Sessions, and 90 in-person tool demos spanning code assessment, exploitation and ethical hacking, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and more.

Show highlights for 2024 included:

  • Keynotes: This year’s event featured two Keynote presentations. The opening Keynote was presented by Jen Easterly, Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA); Hans de Vries, Chief Cybersecurity and Operations Officer (COO) at the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA); and Felicity Oswald OBE, CEO at the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). The second Keynote was presented by Moxie Marlinspike, founder of Signal; and Jeff Moss, founder of Black Hat and DEF CON conferences. Both Keynotes featured in-depth discussions into the current state of the cybersecurity landscape.
  • Main Stage: New for 2024, the Black Hat USA programming included four Main Stage talks, with two individual presentations taking place on August 7 and August 8. Presenters on August 7 included Ann Johnson, Corporate Vice President and Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Microsoft; and Sherrod DeGrippo, Director of Threat Intelligence Strategy at Microsoft; followed by Danny Jenkins, CEO & Co-Founder of ThreatLocker. Presenters on August 8 included Jen Easterly, Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA); followed by Harry Coker, Jr., National Cyber Director in the White House Office of the National Cyber Director.
  • Business Hall: This year’s Business Hall showcased the latest products and technologies from 400 of the industry’s leading cybersecurity solution providers. The Business Hall also featured focused areas for attendee, vendor, and community engagement through Arsenal, Sponsored Sessions, Exhibitor Booths, Bricks & Picks, the Community Lounge, Meet & Greet sessions, and more.
  • Summits: On Tuesday, August 6, the event featured a full day of Summit content, including the inaugural Innovators & Investors Summit, the tenth annual CISO Summit, the inaugural AI Summit at Black Hat USA, and the fourth annual Omdia Analyst Summit. In addition to the Summit programming, Black Hat USA 2024 also featured Micro Summits, including the Cyber Insurance Micro Summit on August 7, and the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Micro Summit on August 8.
  • Startup Spotlight Competition: The Black Hat Startup Spotlight Competition is a pitch contest for cybersecurity startup companies to present their products and solutions in front of a live audience at Black Hat USA. The finalists included DryRun Security, Knostic, LeakSignal, and RAD Security, and Knostic was announced as the winner on August 6 at the conclusion of the Innovators & Investors Summit.
