In partnership with accomplished disabled TV writer, actor, mom and athlete Jamey Perry, the limited-time line embodies the retailer’s commitment to make fashion truly accessible for everybody and every body

JCPenney today announced Jamey Perry for JCPenney, a new limited-time collaboration featuring fashionable and functional apparel for women who use wheelchairs. The exclusive collection, launching Sept. 9 at Runway of Dreams’ Fashion Revolution show during New York Fashion Week (NYFW), is the latest extension of JCPenney’s commitment to adaptive apparel offerings and embodies the retailer’s pledge to make fashion truly accessible for America’s diverse, working families.

The collection, designed by accomplished disabled writer and athlete Jamey Perry, meets the functional needs of wheelchair users while offering stylish options for daily life, special occasions and everything in between. Jamey Perry for JCPenney joins the growing list of adaptive apparel brands for adults and children offered by JCPenney since 2021, including Liz Claiborne, whose adaptive line launched earlier this year, IZOD, St. John’s Bay and Thereabouts, among others.

“Creating this line with JCPenney has been a dream come true,” said Perry. “Although I’m new to the design world, the JCPenney team understood that my lived experience lent a unique perspective when creating this collection. Women like me want to look great and feel great, and we also need clothes that fit our lives. JCPenney gets that and the result is incredible.”

Available in women's sizes XS-XXL, the collection ranges from $44-$99 and includes 18 different styles such as blazers, dress slacks, blouses and cocktail outfits, providing options for any occasion. The collection is designed to reduce common issues women in wheelchairs experience when dressing and wearing apparel, including well-placed zippers for easy access; positioning pockets to be maximally useful to a seated person; using soft, breathable fabrics to reduce skin irritation; extending back rises to accommodate seated wearers; shortening sleeves to prevent interference with wheels; and waistband loops to make dressing easier, all without sacrificing style.

Among her many accomplishments, Perry plays Division 1 wheelchair basketball for the Los Angeles Clippers Chairmen, part of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA). JCPenney has made a $10,000 donation to the team in support of Perry and her fellow athletes.

Jamey Perry is a paraplegic TV writer, actor, mom and trailblazing disabled athlete who is passionate about disability representation in entertainment, sports, fashion and beyond. Perry is the first-ever women's world champion in the sport of WCMX (a mashup of skateboarding and BMX, but with wheelchairs) and is a Division 1 wheelchair basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers Chairmen, part of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA).
