SBSB Eastham Celebrates 10th Anniversary, a Decade of Success and Growth

Since 2015, the firm has forged a national practice focused on putting clients’ needs first

Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea, BenMaier & Eastham PLLC (SBSB Eastham) is proud to celebrate its 10th anniversary, a decade marked by success, extraordinary growth and an unwavering commitment to providing exceptional service and results for its clients.

Founded on Feb. 19, 2015 as SBSB Law by attorneys John Schouest, Robert Bamdas, Brad Soshea and Limor BenMaier, SBSB Eastham began with 18 attorneys handling cases from Houston, Boca Raton, Fla., and Chicago. Today, the firm has grown to 384 employees, with 187 attorneys representing clients from eight offices nationwide.

“We set out with one goal in mind: to focus on our clients’ needs - to be their go-to resource for any and all stages of the legal process,” said Mr. Schouest. “We also wanted to create a great place to work, where people can thrive. To see how much our firm has grown and evolved in such a short time is truly incredible.”

The firm has marked several major milestones in its 10-year history, including the launch of offices in New Orleans and Milwaukee in 2018 and Corpus Christi in 2021.

In 2022, SBSB Law joined forces with Eastham, Watson, Dale & Forney, LLP, to become SBSB Eastham. The merger combined Eastham's renowned maritime and catastrophic claims practice with SBSB's highly respected maritime, longshore, Defense Base Act and insurance defense practices.

SBSB Eastham expanded again in March 2024 when it opened a Dallas office, led by six new partners who focus on construction defect litigation, personal injury defense and labor and employment. The firm will officially launch its eighth office later this month.

“Growth in general has never been important to us,” said Ms. BenMaier. “It has always been about covering the needs of our clients. Adding depth, whether it be in experience or practice areas, has allowed us to do that.”

While SBSB Eastham is one of the nation’s leading firms in admiralty and maritime law, it’s also known for its deep bench of highly skilled litigators who handle a wide variety of defense work, including Defense Base Act and longshore claims, class action defense, business and commercial litigation, business transactions, personal injury defense, general liability, transportation and trucking, insurance, energy, environmental and toxic torts, labor and employment, and federal and state workers’ compensation cases.

The firm has consistently delivered successful results in highly complex cases. Highlights include:

  • A January 2024 defense victory for a Netherlands-based company sued for millions in damages by a longshore employee injured at the Port of Houston. After a two-week trial, a Harris County jury exonerated the company of liability.
  • In March 2021, the firm won a favorable decision on behalf of a major multinational engineering and construction firm sued by a former employee for delayed-onset post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • A July 2018 dismissal of a declaratory judgment action brought against Teichman Group, LLC, and T&T Offshore, Inc.

SBSB Eastham’s accolades include recognition by Best Law Firms, The Best Lawyers in America, Texas Super Lawyers, Lawdragon Leading Lawyers and Lawdragon Leading Litigators. The firm was also named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 list of Best Companies to Work For.

“It’s been an incredible decade,” said Mr. Bamdas. “But we don’t take it for granted. We want to continue to build this firm on our initial foundation of always putting the client first.”

Mr. Soshea added, “We are so proud of what we’ve built and want to thank those who have supported us over the years. We look forward to the next 10 years and beyond.”

SBSB Eastham is a group of experienced attorneys who have come together to form a law firm focused on client needs.
