Newly hired leaders fill out XL’s executive team and bring decades of engineering, chemical manufacturing and finance expertise
XL Batteries, an energy storage company creating a revolutionary safe, low-cost and reliable grid-scale battery, today announced the addition of three senior executives in Engineering, Manufacturing and Finance. Each of the new executives brings experience that will be critical to XL Batteries’ success as the company moves to commercial scale.
This news comes as XL Batteries recently marked a major company and industry milestone with the successful commissioning of its Organic Flow Battery™ through a paid pilot with Stolthaven Terminals, a leading global provider of storage services for bulk liquids and gases. Next, XL Batteries plans to demonstrate its commercial-scale readiness with select partners.
Meryl Mallery has joined as Executive Vice President of Engineering to lead the engineering team that will build XL Batteries’ product to commercial scale. Meryl has more than 35 years of engineering experience and has a demonstrated track record of leading teams in aerospace, military and clean energy industries. Most recently, Meryl was the Vice President of Engineering at Plug Power, where she was responsible for the design, development and certification of utility-scale electrolyzer systems for green hydrogen production.
Seqwana T Pryor, PhD, is the new Executive Vice President of Chemical Manufacturing and will oversee the scaling of XL Batteries’ proprietary chemistry. An accomplished senior-level technical and engineering manager, Seqwana brings more than 25 years of industry experience leading advanced manufacturing process technology organizations. She previously served as Global Manufacturing Technology Leader, Electronics & Industrial, at DuPont, one of the largest chemical companies in the world.
Michael Rubino joins XL Batteries as Chief Financial Officer. He is a seasoned financial executive with a strong operations background who has worked with numerous domestic and international high-growth technology companies at all stages of growth from pre-revenue to mass production. Additionally, he has a strong track record of raising capital from both private and public market sources and, as CFO, helped three companies go public.
“Meryl, Seqwana, and Michael bring precisely the experience our company needs, in the exact areas in which we operate, and I couldn’t be more excited to have them on board,” said Tom Sisto, CEO and co-founder of XL Batteries. “Attracting executives of this caliber is a huge stamp of confidence in our organization, and their experience scaling similar technologies for global industry leaders will be instrumental in the next phase of our growth.”
