Expansion strengthens Viome’s personalized health platform with a proprietary microbial biobank derived from fruits and vegetables, AI-driven discovery capabilities, and clinically validated medical food synbiotics targeting bone density, joint health, and gut barrier integrity.

Viome, the precision health company known for its RNA-based diagnostic testing and personalized nutrition recommendations, today announced it has acquired Sōlaria Biō, a clinically validated synbiotics and medical foods company. Sōlaria’s proprietary discovery platform and biobank, combined with Viome’s microbiome dataset, will support the development of targeted, condition-specific products.

Sōlaria's lead product, Bōndia, the company's clinically studied bone health synbiotic and medical food (evaluated as SBD111), will be integrated into the Viome family of offerings as the company’s first product available without requiring a Viome test. A second synbiotic asset in Sōlaria's portfolio, SBD121, is currently in development for joint health.

The acquisition marks Viome’s latest step in expanding its personalized health platform following its acquisition of Circulate Health, further building the company’s portfolio of clinically validated, off-the-shelf interventions people can act on immediately.

“For a decade, Viome has been helping people learn what’s happening inside their bodies because we believe true personalization is the key to improving overall health and longevity. Now, we’re building platforms that will help us expand to offer interventions people can act on immediately for health challenges they’re already facing,” said Naveen Jain, founder and CEO of Viome. “Powered by our vast biological dataset and Sōlaria’s biobank and discovery platform, we plan to raise the standard of efficacy in the supplement space by creating products that meaningfully improve health based on individual needs.”

Medical Food as an Entry Point Into Precision Health

Since its founding, Viome has used RNA sequencing to decode what's happening in a person's microbiome as the starting point for a personalized nutrition and supplement plan. Viome’s insights and nutrition plans have improved digestion in 94% of users who retest, fueled by more than 140 million nutritional recommendations.

That same understanding now extends to a suite of medical foods as clinically backed interventions Viome users can access to address their unique health findings. Bōndia will be Viome's first commercial-stage standalone product, validated in a randomized, placebo-controlled trial for the dietary management of bone loss.

Bōndia has been shown to reduce femoral bone loss by 84.5% in women with osteopenia and reduce hip bone loss by up to 73.7% in women with elevated BMI or body fat. Bōndia's body of mechanistic and clinical research has been published in Beneficial Microbes, Osteoporosis International, and Journal of Functional Foods.

The Sōlaria Biō Microbial Discovery Engine

Bōndia is built on Sōlaria Biō's proprietary discovery platform formed from a decade of analyzing microbial strains found in fruits, vegetables, and fermented foods. Its biobank includes more than 5,700 bacterial and fungal isolates, and its machine-learning models predict strain function to create targeted medical foods. The platform has compressed Sōlaria's idea-to-clinic development timeline from roughly three years to ten months, and will underpin Viome’s future pipeline of products by connecting 10 years of gut intelligence with years of dedicated plant genome discovery to turn dual biological datasets into targeted solutions for escalating health conditions.

“Sōlaria's mission has always been to address health concerns at their earliest stages, when targeted nutrition can make the greatest difference,” said Eric Schott, co-founder and COO of Sōlaria Biō. “By combining our plant-derived microbial discovery engine with Viome's ability to decode the body's unique biological signals, we can help people recognize emerging health needs sooner and respond with precision. Together, we can offer clinically validated solutions that support people from the first signs of change in their health.”

Scaling Viome’s Platform for the Next Decade

As Viome approaches its 10th anniversary and celebrates more than 1 million microbiomes analyzed, it continues to pass milestones on its path to building the world’s most comprehensive precision health platform. By pairing Viome’s proprietary molecular database with access to clinically validated interventions, Viome continues to bridge the gap between diagnostics and solutions, creating more entry points to its whole-body approach.

Bōndia is available on solaria.bio and will be accessible on viome.com later this year.
