No Baby Blisters has launched an awareness campaign for pediatric epidermolysis bullosa, a rare genetic condition that results in severe blistering, often leading to pain, disability, and death in babies.

-- In a recently announced awareness campaign, No Baby Blisters - a charity dedicated to providing immediate relief to families affected by epidermolysis bullosa - aims to educate the public on the causes of the disease, research direction, and what can be done to help babies living with the condition. The organization is also accepting donations to support life-saving wound care products, pain medications, and financial aid for families, particularly those in underserved communities worldwide.

Individuals presenting with Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) - a hereditary disease - lack a protein responsible for binding the epidermis and dermis together, resulting in fragile skin that can tear and blister from the slightest touch. The disease can also affect mucous membranes in the eyes, mouth, throat, and respiratory tract, leading to internal injuries that can make essential activities, such as eating, difficult.
Experts at No Baby Blisters say that EB is often first noticed in infancy, where severe cases can result in blistering in up to 80% of the body, leading to significant pain, disfigurement, life-threatening loss of body fluid, and even death.
As there is currently no cure for this lifelong disease, affected babies require constant access to specialized medical support, including antimicrobial dressings, pediatric pain medications, and appointments with specialists; they also require specially made clothing and bedding that will not tear the skin, nutritional supplements, and climate control equipment. These needs often result in expenditures that can exceed $1,000 a month.
To aid babies impacted by the disease, No Baby Blisters is dedicated to providing families with immediate access to the aforementioned medical care. All donations collected in the organization’s funding campaigns go toward supporting the needs of patients and relieving the financial burden of EB, especially in underserved communities.
