The expansion comes as food insecurity continues to affect millions of people across Bangladesh. According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), about 16 million people are expected to face acute food insecurity during periods of heightened vulnerability, driven by climate shocks, economic pressures, and rising food costs. Rural households often face the greatest challenges because of limited resources, infrastructure constraints, and fluctuating agricultural incomes.

Lotus Ministry Trust's program distributes food packages to communities with limited access to regular assistance. Packages typically include staple items such as rice, lentils, vegetables, cooking oil, and spices selected to reflect local dietary preferences. Designed to be culturally appropriate and nutritionally balanced, they provide familiar foods that offer meaningful sustenance while respecting local customs.

Working with local volunteers and leaders, the organization identifies households most in need, prioritizing families affected by poverty, inflation, and climate-related disruptions. In Bangladesh, Asia Director Shohag Chandra Das leads operations, helping ensure distribution remains responsive and reaches remote villages.

The organization also gives special attention to vulnerable groups, including children, older adults, and people with disabilities, and delivers food directly to households when recipients are unable to travel, ensuring support reaches those most at risk.

Since its founding in 2021, Lotus Ministry Trust reports having provided food relief to more than 100,000 people across Bangladesh. With expanded distribution capabilities and stronger local partnerships, the organization aims to reach an additional 50,000 people in the coming years.
