GLENDALE, CA - April 16, 2026 (NEWMEDIAWIRE) - The Martial Arts History Museum, staying true to its mission and on brand as a premier institution honoring martial arts legends, is proud to announce a special Honor Day recognizing the achievements, contributions, and philanthropic efforts of Sean Kanan, acclaimed actor, martial artist, and humanitarian. The event will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the museum’s location in Glendale, California.

Sean Kanan is best known to martial arts fans as fan-favorite "Bad Boy" Mike Barnes, a role he recently reprized in the Netflix series Cobra Kai, gaining a new generation of fans.
Kanan also has a legion of fans who have enjoyed his portrayal of the iconic Deacon Sharpe on "The Bold and the Beautiful", the most-watched daytime drama in the world.
Sean Kanan first became famous for portraying ‘Karate’s Bad Boy,’ but in truth, he has as big and warm a heart as anyone in the martial arts community.
Beyond his work on screen, Kanan is a passionate advocate for giving back, supporting causes focused on youth mentorship, wellness, and community empowerment. “Sean Kanan embodies the spirit of martial arts both on and off the mat,” said Michael Matsuda, President of the Martial Arts History Museum.
The Honor Day will feature photo montage videos, clips, a “This Is Your Life”-type segment, tributes from peers and fans, and more. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the honoree in person.
Special guest presenters will include Shihan Chris Pellitteri, a 9th-degree black belt and founder of multiple martial arts organizations; Darryl Vidal, a 10th-degree black belt and original The Karate Kid cast member; William Christopher Ford, a 5th-degree black belt who appeared alongside Kanan in The Karate Kid Part III; and Gerard L. Noonan, a 3rd-degree black belt in World Tae Kwon Do Federation and experienced trainer working with law enforcement and martial arts organizations.
In addition, Kanan will donate a signed poster to support the Palisades Fire Residents Coalition, and the first 100 attendees will receive a special gift bag.
There will also be a screening of "The Real Miyagi" starting at 12 PM, followed by a screening of
“The Karate Kid Part III” at 2 PM, followed by a Q&A.
