Federal Signal reported revenues of $670.2 million, up 18.7% year on year. This print was in line with analysts’ expectations, and overall, it was a strong quarter for the company with full-year EPS guidance exceeding analysts’ expectations and a solid beat of analysts’ EBITDA estimates.

"In what is typically a seasonally-strong period, our businesses were able to deliver 19% year-over-year net sales growth, 21% operating income improvement, an 18% increase in orders, gross margin expansion, and a 60-basis point increase in adjusted EBITDA margin during a record-setting second quarter," commented Jennifer L. With its first trailer reportedly built on two sawhorses, Wabash (NYSE: WNC) offers semi trailers, liquid transportation containers, truck bodies, and equipment for moving goods.

Wabash reported revenues of $417.2 million, down 9.1% year on year, outperforming analysts’ expectations by 3.6%. The business had a stunning quarter with an impressive beat of analysts’ EBITDA estimates and revenue guidance for next quarter exceeding analysts’ expectations.

Weakest Q2: Greenbrier (NYSE: GBX)

Having designed the industry’s first double-decker railcar in the 1980s, Greenbrier (NYSE: GBX) supplies the freight rail transportation industry with railcars and related services.

Greenbrier reported revenues of $576.5 million, down 31.6% year on year, falling short of analysts’ expectations by 5.9%. It was a disappointing quarter as it posted full-year revenue guidance missing analysts’ expectations significantly and full-year EPS guidance missing analysts’ expectations significantly.

Greenbrier delivered the weakest performance against analyst estimates, slowest revenue growth, and weakest full-year guidance update of the whole group. As expected, the stock is down 10% since the results and currently trades at $43.09.

Douglas Dynamics reported revenues of $214.6 million, up 10.5% year on year. This result came in 2.2% below analysts’ expectations. In spite of that, it was a very strong quarter as it recorded an impressive beat of analysts’ EBITDA estimates and full-year EBITDA guidance exceeding analysts’ expectations.

The stock is down 9.1% since reporting and currently trades at $40.11.

With around a century of experience, Blue Bird (NASDAQ: BLBD) is a manufacturer of school buses and complementary parts.

Blue Bird reported revenues of $517.2 million, up 29.9% year on year. This print topped analysts’ expectations by 3.8%. Overall, it was a strong quarter as it also logged an impressive beat of analysts’ EBITDA estimates and full-year EBITDA guidance meeting analysts’ expectations.
