Tax990 has launched Multi-Unit Filing, a solution giving state and national associations, funders, fiscal sponsors, and professional service providers one account to manage and track Form 990 compliance across the multiple nonprofits, member units, or clients they support.
ROCK HILL, SC / ACCESS Newswire / July 28, 2026 / Tax990, the IRS-authorized e-file provider of nonprofit tax forms, has launched Multi-Unit Filing, a solution built for organizations that oversee Form 990 compliance for multiple nonprofits.
The feature is available now and serves state and national associations, funders, fiscal sponsors, and professional service providers that manage filings across a network of member units or clients.
Many organizations carry compliance responsibility for others. State associations track local chapters. Community foundations and fiscal sponsors need grantees to stay in good standing. Accountants and nonprofit consultants manage filings for multiple clients. Multi-Unit Filing gives these organizations one account to view and manage 990 compliance across every unit they support.
The solution offers three approaches that can be combined to fit an organization's structure.
Under the Benefit Provider model, the administrator prepays and provides members with a filing link, and members handle their own submissions.
Under the Monitor and Ensure model, members file themselves while the administrator gets full visibility into who has and has not filed.
Under the File on Behalf model, an administrator files directly for each unit or client.
Multi-Unit Filing is administered through a Partner Console that adapts its features, actions, and reports based on the selected model.
All models include a Compliance Tracker that shows filing and compliance status at the member-unit level, secure access to the Tax990 application, a reports section with Excel and CSV export, a credits overview, and a centralized activity log.
The Central Admin-Driven model adds tools to send filing requests to member units individually or in bulk, track request status, record manual approvals through document upload, and generate a Returns Filing Report and a Filing Authorization Request Report.
Tax990 supports Form 990-N and 990-EZ for Multi-Unit Filers. This feature extends the platform to the associations, coalitions, faith organizations, youth leagues, and professional firms that coordinate filings for many organizations at once.
When asked about the launch, the CEO and Co-founder of SPAN Enterprises, the parent company of Tax990, said, "We are committed to simplifying compliance for all types of organizations. This launch fills a major need and gives many underserved organizations the flexibility to file the way that fits their structure, so the groups they serve stay in good standing."
