Chad Baruch Recognized Again Among Nation’s Top Law Firm Leaders

Lawdragon honors Johnston Tobey Baruch managing shareholder for second year

Chad Baruch, managing shareholder of the Dallas trial and appellate firm Johnston Tobey Baruch, has earned a second consecutive selection to Lawdragon’s list of 100 Managing Partners You Need to Know.

Lawdragon says its 2026 list honors “leaders willing to embrace a positive vision of the future and find ways to achieve it” through financial results, global expansion, innovation or legacy-building.

“I’m honored to be included once more among this elite group,” Mr. Baruch said. “Our firm strives to establish a legacy of service to our clients using innovative and tried-and-true methods.”

Mr. Baruch, who is board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, has presented oral arguments in more than 120 appeals. He has given more than 400 continuing legal education presentations across the country and is regularly consulted by media outlets for comment on newsworthy cases.

“Chad’s skills are one of the reasons we have become a ‘go-to' firm for civil appeals,” said Johnston Tobey Baruch shareholder Randy Johnston.

Mr. Baruch is known for innovative approaches to appellate law, including a recent amicus brief that urges the U.S. Supreme Court to reject the use of rap lyrics as evidence that a defendant poses a continuing threat to society. The filing contends that Dallas County prosecutors used defendant James Broadnax’s artistic expression to stoke racial and anti-rap bias with a jury that convicted him of capital murder and sentenced him to death.

“Chad continues to draw attention to the evolution of cultural norms and their impact on the legal process,” said Johnston Tobey Baruch shareholder Robert Tobey.
