On October 15, the 2026 World Energy Storage Conference opened in Ningde. As a world-class energy storage industry event approved by the industrial and information technology system, the conference has been held in Ningde for three consecutive sessions, attracting nearly 5,000 representatives from more than 50 countries and regions, and is a forward-looking and leading international exchange platform in the global energy storage field.

This year’s conference continues the permanent theme of “Zero Carbon · Technology,” with the annual theme of “Smart Storage for a New Journey, Green Power for the Global Community.” It adheres to the approach of hosting a high-end, internationalized, professional, and distinctive conference, adopting a “1 + 1 + 3 + 4 + N” activity framework, with the agenda covering key areas such as policy interpretation, technological breakthroughs, scenario practices, international cooperation, and intellectual property protection.

The opening ceremony and main forum brought together more than 400 guests from various sectors. On site, the “15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the New Battery Industry” was interpreted and promoted, academicians shared cutting-edge technologies, industry development reports were released, the one-year implementation results of the “Cooperative Co-construction of a Zero-Carbon Innovation Ecosystem (Ningde) Consensus” were reviewed, and a service platform for matching energy storage supply and demand in key energy-consuming industries was launched.

The conference set up three special meetings, four thematic forums, and two high-end dialogues, covering topics such as energy storage applications in zero-carbon factories, electrification of inland and offshore vessels, sodium-ion batteries and new energy storage, as well as the international energy storage market, scenario applications, value innovation, and the use and protection of intellectual property. It brought together multiple international institutions to exchange views on market opportunities, technology implementation, overseas patent layout, and cross-border compliance. At the same time, the conference featured special experience activities and concurrently held the Ningde Energy Storage Industry Ecosystem Experience Activity and the 2026 China-Europe Hidden Champions (Ningde) ESG Green Industry Cooperation Dialogue.

During the conference, more than ten industrial achievements were released in a concentrated manner. The GIFES organization officially debuted, witnessing the establishment of a partnership between the International Renewable Energy Agency and CATL, and building an important international cooperation and exchange window in the energy storage field.

Ningde has laid out its energy storage industry around the plan of “Electric Ningde, Zero-Carbon Ningde.” Multiple projects have been selected as national-level pilots, and energy storage applications cover cities, parks, oceans, and islands, with several benchmark demonstration projects implemented. Ningde will continue to summarize pilot construction experience and provide replicable practical models for China's construction of a new type of power system and the development of new quality productive forces.
