On November 22, the 7th“Commerce and Wealth Forum”themed "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) Business Culture" was held at Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE). Co-hosted by the Chinese Society of Business History, CUFE, and Guosheng Think Tank, and organized by the School of Economics of CUFE and the "Belt and Road" Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Business History, the forum gathered academic and industry experts nationwide to conduct in-depth discussions on the historical roots, contemporary value, and development paths of BTH business culture, injecting cultural momentum and intellectual support into regional coordinated development.
At the opening ceremony, Li Tao, Vice President of CUFE, delivered a welcome speech. He stated that CUFE has built interdisciplinary research teams relying on its advantageous disciplines such as economics and management, and produced a number of academic achievements with both theoretical depth and practical value. The university has always attached great importance to the integration of production, education, and research, and actively built platforms for academic exchange and achievement transformation. Co-hosting the Huozhi Forum this time is not only a full display of the university's academic accumulation but also an important measure to serve the regional coordinated development strategy. In the future, CUFE will continue to deepen cooperation with the academic and industrial circles, promote the precise alignment of academic research with regional development needs, and contribute university wisdom and strength to high-quality regional development.
Xu Yunfeng, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Business History and Director of its "Belt and Road" Professional Committee, as well as Executive Director of Guosheng Think Tank, pointed out in his speech that the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei is an important initiative to promote balanced regional development and enhance comprehensive competitiveness. Guosheng Think Tank has always aimed to serve development strategies and empower industrial upgrading. By integrating academic resources and building exchange platforms, it deeply combines business culture research with policy implementation and industrial optimization. It not only provides cultural decision-making references for the advancement of strategies but also offers practical solutions for regional industrial coordination, factor circulation, and brand co-construction, promoting the transformation of business culture from academic research into tangible development momentum and supporting high-quality regional development.
Wang Ruqin, President of the Chinese Society of Business History, delivered a keynote speech, profoundly interpreting the core connotation and contemporary significance of BTH business culture. She emphasized that the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei has formed a sound pattern of multi-field collaborative advancement, and commerce, as an important link in coordinated development, its underlying business culture system is the spiritual support for the implementation of the strategy. Guided by the regional development strategy, BTH business culture integrates the unique characteristics of Beijing's business culture of "regulation-oriented", Tianjin's "openness", and Hebei's "integrity and pragmatism", forming a regional integrated cultural system centered on "regulation, openness, and integrity". Cultivated through practices of complementary linkage, co-construction, and shared benefits, it is a collaborative cultural ecosystem that injects profound and lasting cultural motivation into the high-quality advancement of the regional strategy. Ms. Wang also introduced the development plan of the "China Strategic Business Culture" research project, clarifying the phased goals of focusing on academic exchange and consensus building, and striving for theoretical construction and achievement transformation, which aroused widespread resonance.
In the keynote speech session, experts and scholars offered suggestions from multiple perspectives. Professor Wen Yuyuan from the School of Applied Economics at Renmin University of China, combining the development laws of world-class urban agglomerations, proposed that Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei should take business culture as a link to strengthen complementary urban functions and collaborative industrial innovation. Professor Lan Rixu, Director of the Department of Economics at CUFE, sorted out the cultural characteristics and historical contributions of Beijing's business culture from a historical perspective, revealing its core role in the regional business culture system. In addition, many experts shared insights on topics such as modern regional trade coordination, integration of traditional merchant group cultures, inheritance and innovation of local business traditions, and overcoming institutional barriers to commercial coordination, constructing a three-dimensional research framework.
In the academic exchange session, participating experts conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as canal culture and regional linkage, breaking through bottlenecks in commercial coordination, historical context of financial development, and modern transformation of traditional business culture. A series of constructive ideas were formed on the activation of time-honored brands, integration of cultural and tourism resources, and protection and inheritance of business culture.
As a high-end academic platform in the field of business history research, the forum achieved remarkable results: establishing the theoretical framework and practical path for BTH business culture research, promoting the in-depth development of the "China Strategic Business Culture" research project, and building a long-term mechanism for collaboration among the academic and industrial circles.
