Teaching, he says, has become one of the most rewarding parts of his career because it challenges him to continually evaluate his own thinking.
"When another dentist asks why I approach a case a certain way, it forces me to think more deeply about every decision," he says. "Teaching doesn't just help the person you're mentoring. It helps you become a better clinician."

According to Dr. Atcha, continuing education should extend well beyond formal courses and certifications. Some of the profession's most valuable lessons come from discussing real patient cases, learning from experienced colleagues, and being willing to share both successes and setbacks.
"One conversation with an experienced mentor can save someone years of trial and error," he says. "Those conversations build confidence, improve judgment, and ultimately lead to better care for patients."
He believes mentorship also creates stronger professional communities where clinicians continue learning from one another throughout their careers rather than viewing education as something that ends after graduation.
Looking Beyond Technology
Modern dentistry continues to benefit from advances in digital imaging, guided surgery, and treatment planning, but Dr. Atcha believes technology should complement experience rather than replace it.
"Technology gives us remarkable tools," he says. "What it can't teach is judgment. Clinical judgment develops over years of treating patients, asking questions, and learning from people who have already faced similar challenges."
As more clinicians adopt advanced technologies, he hopes equal attention will be given to creating opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and professional development.
"The future of healthcare depends on more than innovation," says Dr. Atcha. "It depends on people who are willing to share what they've learned so the next generation can build on it."
