CLEVELAND, January 24, 2023 (Newswire.com) - Former CNN network anchor and journalist Carol Costello teams up with Evergreen Podcasts for Carol Costello Presents: Blind Rage, a podcast about a survivor-turned-detective who became an indispensable part of the team investigating the crime against her. In the new series, Costello revisits the brutal attack of Phyllis Cottle, a woman savagely assaulted on her way to work in Akron, Ohio, in March of 1984.
Before her 18 years at CNN covering stories like 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and the Pulse Nightclub massacre, Costello was a 22-year-old college senior psyched to be manning the phones at WAKR/TV23 in Akron, Ohio. Cottle's horrific story was her first big assignment and it left a life-long impression. Costello shares how Cottle's courage impacted her as a rookie reporter and as a young woman struggling to be heard.

In 2019, parole was denied for Cottle's attacker Samuel Herring. Herring was convicted of brutally attacking Cottle on that fateful day, permanently blinding her. Herring was sentenced to nearly 300 years in prison.
Carol Costello Presents: Blind Rage debuts on Jan. 24, 2023. The podcast will examine how Phyllis Cottle escaped her attacker, how she never panicked during her hours-long ordeal, and how she came to control her own narrative as reporters descended upon her, and her family. The show will forever change the true crime genre.
