Microsoft’s OpenAI Introduces ChatGPT Edu, Reforming the Education Sector

A pioneer in Artificial Intelligence, Microsoft’s OpenAI has launched its recent invention for the education sector: ChatGPT Edu. The technology will enable universities and higher education departments to implement AI responsibly in the learning environment.

Universities have been facing reliability issues due to students’ irresponsible use of AI. Microsoft stepped forward to create a reasonable solution in the form of ChatGPT Edu. The tool is powered by ChatGPT-4o technology; the OpenAI model is appreciated for its remarkable coding, text, and math comprehension. Students can utilize it in their day-to-day assignments and learning by giving prompts to the tool for both image and text-related tasks.

“Integrating the newer ChatGPT in ASU will welcome transformation into our operational and educational processes,” said Kyle Bowen, Deputy CIO at Arizona State University. “We are actively expanding our knowledge of the tool with other communities, scaling the learning curve with innovations.”

The advanced features of the tool, such as summarization, navigation, and data analysis, will enable students to research and understand complex concepts and excel in their respective fields of study. Other prominent characteristics of ChatGPT Edu involve an extended message limit, support for 50+ languages, improved language quality and speed, enterprise-level security, administrative controls, and the ability to build and share custom GPTs across the campuses.

Universities will be able to utilize the latest AI model for various tasks, including grant application writing for research, individualized tutoring for students, and grading tools for professors. The robust data privacy and controls like SCIM, SSO, and tool management will help administer tasks and supervise operations.

Microsoft also recently announced the availability of advanced GPT 4.0 features for free ChatGPT users. Now, every free-model user can perform tasks like file uploading, chart creation, data analysis, and the ability to question images and responses. Earlier, these features were only accessible to ChatGPT Plus users. However, creating new custom GPTs is still available only to premium members.
