Hazmat Line launches dedicated compliance program for Amazon FBA dangerous goods shippers

Hazmat Line has launched a program for Amazon FBA dangerous goods shippers that combines hazmat classification support, Safety Data Sheet review, and a 24/7 emergency phone number under one provider — simplifying FBA hazmat compliance.

Hazmat Line, a 24/7 hazmat emergency response provider, has launched a service program built specifically for Amazon FBA sellers who ship dangerous goods, bringing hazmat classification support, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) review, and a compliant emergency response phone number together under a single provider.

Selling hazardous materials through Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) has become an attractive channel for a growing number of merchants, offering access to Prime customers and Amazon's fulfillment network. But enrolling in Amazon's FBA Dangerous Goods program and keeping shipments compliant is rarely simple. Sellers must correctly classify their products, obtain or author a compliant SDS, and display a monitored 24-hour emergency telephone number on their shipping papers and safety documentation — often coordinating several different vendors to do so.

Hazmat Line's new program is designed to consolidate that process. The company supports sellers with initial product classification, reviews existing Safety Data Sheets for compliance, and — for sellers who do not yet have an SDS — connects them with vetted partners for professional SDS authoring. Each client then receives a dedicated emergency response phone number that can be displayed across all of their shipments, not only those sent to Amazon.

Timing is a recurring challenge for FBA sellers. Many discover that an emergency response number is required only at the final stage of preparing a shipment, when a missing number can hold up an entire consignment. Amazon requires a monitored 24-hour emergency phone number for inbound hazmat shipments. In practice, this often takes the form of an SDS emergency phone number requirement: sellers must list a monitored emergency contact number in Section 1 of the Safety Data Sheet, and that same number typically has to appear on shipping papers and labels as well. Hazmat Line provides a single dedicated SDS emergency phone number that covers all of these documents and issues it within 24 hours — so sellers facing a deadline can get covered in a matter of hours rather than days.

"The emergency phone number is often the last thing a seller realizes they need, usually right when a shipment is ready to go out," said Daniel Chebat, Director of Hazmat Line. "We built this program so Amazon FBA shippers don't have to assemble classification, SDS, and emergency coverage from three different places. We can review where they stand and get them a working emergency number within hours — and because it's their own dedicated number, they can use it on every shipment, not just the ones going to Amazon."

Beyond the emergency number itself, the program reflects Hazmat Line's prevention-first approach. The company keeps client SDS information current, runs drill calls to validate that emergency numbers perform as expected, and provides year-round help-desk access for regulatory questions on classification, labeling, and documentation. When carriers, customs inspectors, or regulatory authorities call a client's number for any reason, Hazmat Line handles the interaction and notifies the client.

The FBA program joins Hazmat Line's existing offerings for battery shippers and general hazmat shippers.
