UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / July 29, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Swannie Jett, PhD, for leadership in public health. Dr. Jett is the chief executive officer of Park DuValle Community Health Centers. Recognized as a Top Executive, he is known for his work in community wellness and leadership across multiple states. In his current role, he works to transform how communities access and benefit from holistic health care solutions.

Trusted Care in Community Health
Dr. Jett has championed underserved communities through initiatives focused on equity, education and prevention. Under his leadership, Park DuValle Community Health Centers remains a trusted pillar in the state of Kentucky. It has earned fame as the first community health center established in the state.
The center has a 50-year legacy of care, focusing on behavioral health, pediatric care, women's health and dental services. Meanwhile, Dr. Jett is building on this rich heritage by embracing new methods to uplift patient outcomes.
Food as Medicine
Dr. Jett's latest endeavor involves launching an indoor farmers market. Located in Louisville's West End, this facility will house a food pantry, training kitchen and produce prescription program. This new model does more than treat symptoms. It addresses the root causes of illnesses by educating residents on healthy eating through hands-on cooking classes.
However, healthy eating can be costly. Dr. Jett did not allow that fact to deter the initiative. "I collaborate with the farmers to negotiate costs and potentially offer them a stipend or subsidy to lower food prices," he says. Patients diagnosed with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, heart disease, or hypertension, will receive access to fresh, free food. Additionally, other visitors to the center can get food at a 20% reduced cost.
Milestone Achievements on a National Scale
For over two decades, Dr. Jett has held several influential positions. As health commissioner in Brookline, Massachusetts, he led the country's first municipal mask mandate at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision set a precedent across the state and contributed to a meaningful decrease in local transmission.
Dr. Jett's prior position as the chief executive officer and health commissioner for Florida's Seminole County Health Department was pivotal. During his three-year tenure, he helped pass one of the few nationwide smoke-free policies to include e-cigarettes. Additionally, he established the Office of Health Equity and the Office of Community Health and Education.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Jett made a statewide impact in Kentucky, serving as an integrative health professional. In this role, he founded the Office of Men's Health, reduced infant mortality rates and led outreach efforts in Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness. From 2015 to 2016, he served as president of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).
Recognition for Sustainable Health Solutions
Dr. Jett's efforts have earned widespread acclaim. On two occasions, he received the Model Practice Award from the NACCHO. Additionally, he was named a Top Leader in Philanthropy. Moreover, he caught the attention of prominent philanthropic figures, such as MacKenzie Scott, who awarded Park DuValle $4.8 million for its long-standing impact and future potential.
With this support, Dr. Jett plans to expand the indoor food center. "I aim to transform the community through this initiative," he says. It can also serve as a nationwide model for providing sustainable access to fresh food. Aside from empowering residents to take control of their health, he intends to establish an event center for community events.
A Balance of Values, Service and Growth
While committed to public service, Dr. Jett also prioritizes family. Married with seven children, he finds joy in playing golf and smoking meat. This public health professional cites faith and perseverance as pillars of his success.
Leadership, in Dr. Jett's view, begins with the willingness to follow and learn. "I spent a lot of time studying the factors that influence people and ways to improve," he says. As a result, the community he serves benefits from his unwavering dedication.
