Since 2016, Mr. Fisher has served as creator in chief of John W. Fisher Creative Enterprises LLC, an organization he established to formalize his work in poetry, music, prose and performance. Although his career previously encompassed public education and real estate instruction, he told Marquis Who's Who in an interview that his current chapter is firmly centered on creative projects, including published books, musical compositions and new short stories.

One of Mr. Fisher's most distinctive creative accomplishments is his development of the "Sermon Song," an approach in which he takes notes from weekly church sermons, studies the corresponding scripture and transforms the material into original poetry set to familiar hymns, folk songs, children's tunes, popular melodies or his own compositions. He considers the concept his most notable achievement and has taken steps to trademark the Sermon Song name. The project "will be a technique for studying the Bible, which will help people who have trouble reading scripture," he said.

Speaking with Marquis Who's Who, Mr. Fisher said the concept originated after a sermon inspired him to write his first song based on the biblical story of Jehoshaphat. Encouraged by church leaders, he created a piano accompaniment and performed the piece, an experience that helped launch what became an ongoing body of work. His pastor's continuing sermon series later inspired "Sermon Songs for the Gospel According to Mark," published by Christian Faith Publishing.

Mr. Fisher has since expanded his literary output. His published works include "Fronds of Palms," a collection of poetry accompanied by photographs. A third book, "Sermon Songs for Acts and Revelation," is scheduled for publication in 2026. He is also developing additional Sermon Song projects as well as prose, including a short story centered on a fictional Levite and a personal series titled "My Many Loves."

Music remains another significant part of his creative life. Mr. Fisher has composed more than 50 anthems available through Sheet Music Plus, incorporating biblical texts and works inspired by writers such as William Shakespeare, William Blake and Robert Burns. Through the performance division of John W. Fisher Creative Enterprises, he also seeks opportunities to perform his music and poetry at churches, senior communities, coffeehouses and other venues.

Mr. Fisher's creative pursuits follow a long career in education. After graduating cum laude from Lafayette College with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1970, he earned a Master of Education from Temple University. He began as an elementary and middle school teacher, specializing in middle school science, and participated in GlaxoSmithKline's Science in the Summer for Elementary Kids program.

Family also remains central to Mr. Fisher's life and creative work. Married for more than five decades, he has two children and five grandchildren, several of whom have inspired poems appearing in "Fronds of Palms." His writing and music have provided an important creative outlet while he has devoted considerable time to caring for his wife.
