UK Homeowners Are Advised to Turn Down Boilers This Winter to Save on Bills

As Business Secretary, Grant Shapps, gives homeowners tips for cutting down energy bills this winter, Mulgas Boiler Care Specialists remind Chobham residents to get their boilers serviced.

As the government renders a plan to build a more secure energy future, Grant Shapps has formed a bilateral strategy to make homes more energy efficient.

“Today, we launch the first of many measures to ensure the British public are never put in this position again as we work towards an energy independent future.”

With nuclear power plants becoming the epicentre of energy security within government, Mr Shapps is set to travel to Suffolk’s Sizewell C nuclear power station to finalise a deal between the French state-owned EDF and the government.

After the £700 million government investment, with the first state backing in 30 years, a nuclear power plant is to be built.

Launched in coming weeks, to lower energy bills, households will be instructed to turn down their boilers to 60C down from 75C which has been said could save £100 annually for a typical home.

The ‘All Adds Up’ Campaign’s tips for households includes putting draught excluders around doors or by adding clear film across windows, to save a potential £60 a year on heating loss. They also recommend turning off appliances at the plug to lessen costs by £70.

Downing Street decided to give approval for the campaign which will include technical tips to drive energy efficiency in homes.

Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, prices have skyrocketed, and energy supplies are low which has caused the National Grid to announce a warning that the UK could encounter blackouts.

Chancellor Jeremey Hunt exclaimed, “With Putin’s war driving up gas prices worldwide, I know many families are feeling worried about their energy bills this winter and beyond. Global gas prices are at record highs, caused by Putin’s illegal march on Ukraine. We need more clean, affordable power generated within our borders – British energy for British homes.”

As the UK sees temperatures plunging as low as -15.7C, the nation’s public is reminded to keep on top of annual servicing and follow governmental measures to strive for an ‘energy independent future’ and lower energy costs.

Specialising in central heating – repairs, servicing and installation, Muglas Boiler Care Specialists based in Chobham prompts residents to get their boilers serviced in an effort to reduce up to 35% on heating bills and power energy efficiency.

By keeping an updated service on boilers, residents can keep them running at an optimum level resulting in a lower energy bill. With a ten-year warranty on new boilers, Mulglas Boiler Care Specialists identify minor problems when completing a service to mend any issues before they develop into more costly, significant complications.

The Boiler Guide explains why a boiler service is so important: “As a boiler ages, it can become less efficient which means it needs to use more fuel to heat your home which will cost you more money. An annual service will ensure all the components are in the best possible condition and deliver a higher level of efficiency for longer.”

As the Business and Energy Secretary announces further measures to help establish the UK’s energy independence, getting boilers serviced before turning them down by 15C aligns with the government’s plan to sustain a more cost-effective energy future.
