What happened?

Shares of semiconductor designer Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ: LSCC) jumped 13.3% in the morning session after the company reported record third-quarter 2026 revenue of $291.0 million, up 118% year over year, and issued upbeat fourth-quarter revenue guidance.

According to a company press release, Lattice Semiconductor reported non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $0.72 and GAAP net income of $11.2 million, or $0.08 per diluted share. Adjusted EBITDA reached $131.0 million for the period, while FPGA (field-programmable gate array, or chips that can be customized after manufacturing) revenue jumped roughly 90% year over year, driven primarily by strong compute and communications demand.

On the earnings call, CEO Ford Tamer said the July AMI acquisition expanded Lattice into server firmware and secure infrastructure management. He attributed compute strength to agentic inference server deployments and higher FPGA content per server, while industrial sales normalized to natural demand after channel inventories cleared. Looking ahead, management guided fourth-quarter revenue to approximately $335 million. The significant top-line expansion and upbeat guidance bolstered investor confidence regarding durable demand for the company's programmable chip solutions across core end markets.

What is the market telling us

Lattice Semiconductor’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 47 moves greater than 5% over the last year. But moves this big are rare even for Lattice Semiconductor and indicate this news significantly impacted the market’s perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 7 days ago when the stock gained 5.2% on the news that major artificial intelligence deals and landmark financing agreements reinforced investor confidence in sustained technological demand as reported by AP News. Market sentiment received a major boost following news that Broadcom obtained $63 billion in bank financing to develop proprietary artificial intelligence chips for Anthropic.

The massive commitment, paired with Anthropic filing for an initial public offering and Meta launching an equity offering, signaled to Wall Street that capital expenditure across the technology landscape remains robust.

For chipmakers and hardware designers, these multi-billion-dollar transactions demonstrate that major tech players continue to channel enormous financial resources into specialized infrastructure. Rather than slowing down, corporate appetite for computing power is accelerating, helping lift semiconductor shares and providing essential support to broader equity benchmarks such as the S&P 500.

Lattice Semiconductor is up 36.6% since the beginning of the year, but at $107.42 per share, it is still trading 30.8% below its 52-week high of $155.27 from June 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Lattice Semiconductor’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,382.
